Biscuit & Gravy or Toast & Grits

Method

Cooking the Eggs and Meat

  1. 1

    Cook the Eggs

In a non-stick skillet over medium heat, crack the 2 farm eggs and cook to your desired doneness - sunny side up, over easy, or scrambled.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon or Sausage

In a separate skillet, cook the 4 pieces of bacon or sausage links over medium heat until crispy and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

Making Home Fries

  1. 3

    Prepare the Vegetables

Dice the 2 cups of potatoes, 1 medium onion, and 1 medium bell pepper into small cubes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Home Fries

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the diced potatoes, onion, and bell pepper. Season with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are golden brown and tender, about 15-20 minutes.

Making Biscuit & Gravy or Toast & Grits

  1. 5

    Prepare the Gravy

In a saucepan, cook 1 cup of sausage over medium heat until browned. Add flour to make a roux, stirring constantly for 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. 6

    Cook the Grits

In a separate pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Stir in 1 cup of grits and reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 15-20 minutes. Finish with 1 tablespoon of butter.

  3. 7

    Prepare the Biscuits or Toast

If using biscuits, bake according to package instructions. If using bread, toast the 2 pieces of bread to your liking.
