Tomato Bacon Sauce

Method

Shrimp Preparation

1

Marinate the Shrimp

In a bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add the shrimp and toss to coat well. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.

2

Preheat Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat.

3

Cook the Shrimp

Once the grill or skillet is hot, add the shrimp in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they are pink and opaque. Remove from heat and set aside.

Tomato Bacon Sauce Preparation

4

Cook the Bacon

In a saucepan over medium heat, add the diced bacon. Cook until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon and drain on paper towels, leaving the rendered fat in the pan.

5

Sauté the Onion

In the same pan with the bacon fat, add the finely chopped onion. Sauté until translucent and soft, about 3-4 minutes.

6

Combine Sauce Ingredients

Add the tomato sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes to the onions. Stir well and let simmer for about 10 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

7

Finish the Sauce

Add the crispy bacon back into the sauce, stirring to combine. Allow to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Serving

8

Plate the Dish

Serve the charred shrimp on a plate and generously spoon the tomato bacon sauce over the top. Enjoy!
