Filet Mignon

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Method

Filet Mignon

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steaks

Remove filet mignon from the refrigerator and allow them to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps in even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steaks

Rub the filet mignon with olive oil, then season generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.

  3. 3

    Sear the Steaks

Heat a skillet over high heat until very hot. Place the steaks in the skillet and sear for 4 minutes without moving them.

  4. 4

    Flip and Add Flavor

Flip the steaks and add butter, rosemary, and crushed garlic cloves to the pan. Cook for an additional 4 minutes for medium-rare, basting with the melted butter.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steaks

Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  1. 6

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and cut potatoes into quarters. Place them in a pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 7

    Prepare the Garlic

In the last 5 minutes of boiling, add the garlic cloves to the pot with the potatoes.

  3. 8

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and garlic, then return them to the pot. Add butter, heavy cream, salt, and black pepper.

  4. 9

    Mix and Serve

Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste, then serve alongside the filet mignon.
