Method
Preparing the Beef Tenderloin
- 1
Prepare the Beef
Remove the beef tenderloin from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This allows for even cooking.
- 2
Season the Beef
Rub the entire surface of the tenderloin with olive oil, then generously season with salt and black pepper. Make sure to cover all sides.
- 3
Cooking the Beef Tenderloin
- 4
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- 5
Sear the Beef
In a large oven-safe skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef tenderloin and sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned.
- 6
Roast the Beef
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Roast for about 20-25 minutes for medium-rare, or longer if desired. Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 57°C (135°F) for medium-rare.
- 7
Rest the Meat
Remove the beef from the oven and cover it loosely with aluminum foil. Let it rest for at least 10-15 minutes before slicing, allowing the juices to redistribute.
Optional Sides Preparation
- 8
Prepare Asparagus
Trim the ends of the asparagus and toss them with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Roast them in the oven alongside the beef for the last 10 minutes.
