Preparation of Ingredients

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Reserve some bacon grease in the skillet for later use.

  2. 2

    Chop the Vegetables

While the bacon is cooking, chop the red onion and slice the Granny Smith apple into thin wedges. Set aside.

Making the Dressing

  1. 3

    Combine Dressing Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

Assembling the Salad

  1. 4

    Mix the Salad Base

In a large salad bowl, combine the fresh spinach and field greens. Toss to mix evenly.

  2. 5

    Add Toppings

Add the cooked bacon, chopped red onion, sliced Granny Smith apple, candied pecans, and bleu cheese crumbles into the salad bowl. Toss gently to combine.

  3. 6

    Dress the Salad

Drizzle the prepared dressing over the salad and toss to coat all ingredients evenly. Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if desired.
