Salad Base

Method

Grilling the Romaine

  1. 1

    Prepare the Romaine

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Cut each heart of romaine in half lengthwise, leaving the core intact. Rinse under cold water and pat dry.

  2. 2

    Grill the Romaine

Once the grill is preheated, place the romaine halves cut-side down on the grill. Grill for about 2-3 minutes until they have grill marks and are slightly wilted. Flip and grill for another 1-2 minutes. Remove from the grill and set aside.

Preparing the Salad

  1. 3

    Chop the Vegetables

While the romaine is grilling, chop the seasonal tomatoes, slice the red onion thinly, and dice the cucumbers into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 4

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, then chop into small pieces.

Making the Dill Ranch Dressing

  1. 5

    Combine Dressing Ingredients

In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Whisk together until smooth and well combined.

Assembling the Salad

  1. 6

    Combine Ingredients

On a large serving platter, place the grilled romaine halves. Top with chopped tomatoes, diced cucumbers, sliced red onion, chopped bacon, and bleu cheese crumbles.

  2. 7

    Add Dressing

Drizzle the dill ranch dressing over the salad just before serving. You can serve additional dressing on the side if desired.
