Filet Mignon

Yukon Gold Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Fried Onion Straws

Bourbon Mushroom & Onion Sauce

Method

Filet Mignon Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Filet

Rub the filet mignon with olive oil, salt, and black pepper on both sides.

  2. 2

    Grill the Filet

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the filet for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Brush with bourbon during the last minute of cooking.

Yukon Gold Garlic Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 3

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and chop the Yukon Gold potatoes into chunks. Place in a pot of salted water and boil until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Garlic

While the potatoes are boiling, peel the garlic cloves and add them to the pot for the last 5 minutes of cooking.

  3. 5

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and garlic and return them to the pot. Add butter, heavy cream, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Fried Onion Straws Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare the Onions

Slice the large onion into thin strips.

  2. 7

    Dredge the Onions

In a bowl, combine flour, salt, and black pepper. Dip the onion strips in buttermilk, then dredge in the flour mixture.

  3. 8

    Fry the Onion Straws

Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pan over medium heat. Fry the onion strips in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

Bourbon Mushroom & Onion Sauce Preparation

  1. 9

    Sauté the Mushrooms and Onions

In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add chopped onions and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add sliced mushrooms and cook until softened.

  2. 10

    Add Bourbon and Beef Broth

Pour in the bourbon and beef broth. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 10 minutes until the sauce reduces slightly. Season with salt and black pepper.
