Rib Preparation

Method

Rib Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). This low temperature will help tenderize the ribs as they cook.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ribs

Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs if it's still attached. This helps the ribs to be more tender and allows flavors to penetrate better.

  3. 3

    Season the Ribs

Rub the ribs with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika on both sides.

BBQ Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Make the BBQ Sauce

In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper. Stir well to combine.

  2. 5

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

Cooking the Ribs

  1. 6

    Bake the Ribs

Place the seasoned ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, meat side up. Cover the ribs tightly with another piece of foil and bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours.

  2. 7

    Apply BBQ Sauce

Remove the ribs from the oven. Carefully remove the top piece of foil and brush a generous amount of BBQ sauce over the ribs.

  3. 8

    Finish on the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Transfer the ribs to the grill and cook for another 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally and basting with more BBQ sauce until the ribs are caramelized and slightly charred.

  4. 9

    Rest and Serve

Once the ribs are done, remove them from the grill and let them rest for about 10 minutes. Cut into portions and serve with remaining BBQ sauce on the side.
