Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a round cake pan (approximately 20 cm in diameter) with butter and line the bottom with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the almond flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well to ensure even distribution of the baking powder.

  3. 3

    Whisk Eggs and Sugar

In a separate large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and fluffy, which should take about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, folding gently with a spatula. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. 5

    Add Lemon Zest

Fold in the lemon zest to incorporate its flavor into the batter.

  6. 6

    Transfer to Cake Pan

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. 8

    Cool the Cake

Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, carefully transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Finishing Touches

  1. 9

    Dust with Powdered Sugar

Once the cake has cooled, dust the top generously with powdered sugar.

  2. 10

    Garnish with Almonds

Decorate the cake with slivered or whole almonds on top for an elegant finish.
