Churro Dough

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

Method

Prepare the Churro Dough

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once the mixture is boiling, remove it from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball. Allow it to cool for about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Add 2 large eggs to the dough, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

Fry the Churros

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat 2 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Pipe Churros

Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough directly into the hot oil.

  3. 6

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  1. 7

    Mix Cinnamon Sugar

In a shallow dish, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon.

  2. 8

    Coat Churros

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Prepare Chocolate Sauce

  1. 9

    Heat Cream

In a small saucepan over low heat, heat 0.5 cups of heavy cream until it begins to simmer.

  2. 10

    Melt Chocolate

Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until the chocolate is completely melted and the sauce is smooth.
