Espresso Ingredients
Method
Espresso Preparation
- 1
Measure Coffee
Weigh out 18 grams of freshly ground espresso coffee using a digital scale. Ensure that the coffee is ground to a fine consistency, similar to table salt.
- 2
Prepare Water
Heat 240 ml of filtered water to a temperature between 90°C to 96°C (194°F to 205°F). This temperature range is ideal for extracting the rich flavors from the coffee.
- 3
Tamp Coffee
Place the ground coffee into the portafilter basket. Use a tamper to press down firmly, ensuring an even surface. Aim for about 30 pounds of pressure to create a solid coffee puck.
- 4
Brew Espresso
Lock the portafilter into your espresso machine. Start the brewing process and allow the espresso to extract for about 25-30 seconds. You should see a rich, dark liquid with a golden crema on top.
- 5
Serve
Once brewed, immediately pour the espresso into a pre-warmed cup and enjoy it straight or with a splash of milk, depending on your preference.
