Method

Prepare Taco Shells

  1. 1

    Frying Tortillas

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add one corn tortilla at a time, frying for about 30 seconds on each side until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.

  2. 2

    Soft Tacos

If you prefer soft tacos, simply warm the corn tortillas in a dry skillet over low heat for about 10-15 seconds on each side until they are pliable. Keep warm in a clean kitchen towel.

Cook Protein

  1. 3

    Ground Beef

In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat, then stir in taco seasoning, salt, and pepper. Add 1/4 cup of water and simmer for 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Chicken Breast

Season chicken breast with taco seasoning, salt, and pepper. Grill or pan-sear over medium heat for 6-7 minutes on each side or until fully cooked. Shred the chicken once it cools.

  3. 5

    Black Beans

Rinse and drain the black beans. Heat them in a small saucepan over medium heat, adding taco seasoning and a splash of water. Stir and heat through for about 5 minutes.

Assemble Tacos

  1. 6

    Building the Tacos

Take a taco shell and fill it with your choice of protein. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, a dollop of sour cream, salsa, and slices of avocado.
