Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Protein

In a bowl, combine olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Whisk together until well mixed. Add the chicken or beef strips, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the protein is marinating, slice the bell peppers and onion into thin strips. Set aside.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Protein

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the marinated protein from the refrigerator and place it on the grill. Cook for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through and nicely charred. Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes before slicing.

  2. 4

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add the sliced bell peppers and onions. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, or until they are soft and slightly caramelized. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.

  3. 5

    Warm the Tortillas

While the vegetables are cooking, warm the tortillas in a separate skillet or microwave until soft and pliable.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble Fajitas

To serve, place sliced chicken or beef on a tortilla, top with sautéed peppers and onions. Add desired toppings such as sour cream, salsa, and guacamole. Roll up the tortilla and enjoy!
