Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Protein

Choose your protein option. If using grilled chicken, season with salt and pepper and grill until fully cooked, about 6-7 minutes per side. For ground beef, cook in a skillet over medium heat until browned and fully cooked. If using black beans, simply heat them in a saucepan until warm.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Rice

Cook white or brown rice according to package instructions. Once cooked, set aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Cheese and Toppings

Gather the shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese. Chop cilantro, lettuce, and dice tomatoes. Set all toppings aside for assembly.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Assemble the Burrito

Lay one flour tortilla flat on a clean surface. In the center of the tortilla, layer 1/2 cup of your chosen protein, 1/2 cup of rice, 1/4 cup of each type of cheese, and then add your desired toppings such as sour cream, salsa, chopped cilantro, lettuce, and diced tomatoes.

  2. 5

    Wrap the Burrito

Fold the sides of the tortilla inward over the filling, then roll the bottom up tightly to enclose the filling. Continue rolling until the burrito is fully wrapped.

Cooking (Optional)

  1. 6

    Heat the Burrito

If you prefer a warm burrito, place the wrapped burrito seam-side down on a skillet over medium heat. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and heated through.
