Cocktail
Method
Cocktail
- 1
Chill glass
Place a coupe or rocks glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to chill it.
- 2
Combine ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz vodka, 1 oz Aperol, 1 oz passion fruit purée (or juice), 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup.
- 3
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and well-chilled.
- 4
Prepare glass
If you used ice water to chill the glass, discard the ice water now. Add fresh ice to a rocks glass if you prefer it on the rocks, or leave the coupe chilled for a strained cocktail.
- 5
Strain and top
Double-strain the shaken mixture into the chilled glass (over fresh ice if using a rocks glass). Top with approximately 1.5 oz club soda to give a light effervescence and gently stir once with a bar spoon to combine.
- 6
Garnish
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. If using fresh passion fruit, float half a spoonful of seeds or half a passion fruit (cut side up) on top for aroma and visual appeal.
- 7
Serve
Serve immediately while effervescent. Advise drinkers to give the drink a gentle stir to reincorporate the soda before sipping.
