Spicy Tuna Tartare

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna

Dice the sushi-grade tuna into small cubes and place it in a mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Mix the Tuna Marinade

In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, and sriracha sauce. Pour the marinade over the diced tuna and gently mix to coat. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare Avocado

Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh. Dice the avocado into small cubes and set aside.

  4. 4

    Chop Green Onions

Finely chop the green onions (both white and green parts) and add to the tuna mixture.

  5. 5

    Make Edamame Hummus

In a food processor, combine shelled edamame, tahini, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Blend until smooth. If needed, add a little water to reach the desired consistency.

  6. 6

    Prepare Citrus Chili Relish

In a small bowl, mix red chili flakes with a little water to make a paste. Combine with diced avocado and mix gently.

  7. 7

    Fry Wonton Wrappers

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat. Fry the wonton wrappers until golden brown and crispy, about 1-2 minutes. Remove them and drain on paper towels.

  8. 8

    Assemble the Tartare

In serving bowls, layer the tuna mixture, followed by the avocado, and top with cilantro. Serve with a side of edamame hummus and fried wontons.
