Amaro Montenegro Ingredients
Method
Amaro Montenegro Directions
- 1
Preparation of the Infusion
In a large glass jar or container, combine the dried orange peel, dried chamomile flowers, dried wormwood, coriander seeds, gentian root, cloves, cardamom pods, and nutmeg. Pour in 2 cups of the high-proof alcohol over the herbs and spices. Seal the jar tightly and let it sit in a cool, dark place for about 2 weeks, shaking it gently every few days to help the flavors meld.
- 2
Straining the Mixture
After 2 weeks, strain the infused alcohol through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean container. Make sure to press down on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.

Combining the Infusion and Syrup
Once the syrup has cooled, mix it with the infused alcohol in a large bowl or pitcher. Slice the vanilla bean open and scrape the seeds into the mixture, then add the fresh mint leaves. Stir well to combine.

Finalizing the Amaro
Pour the final mixture into clean bottles, seal them tightly, and let them sit for another week to allow the flavors to develop further. The Amaro Montenegro can be served on its own or used in cocktails.
