Beans Ingredients

Method

Beans Preparation

  1. 1

    Soaking the Beans

Rinse the dried beans under cold water and remove any debris. Place them in a large bowl and cover with water. Allow them to soak overnight or for at least 8 hours.

  2. 2

    Cooking the Beans

After soaking, drain the beans and place them in a pot. Add 4 cups of fresh water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the beans are tender.

  3. 3

    Sautéing Aromatics

In a separate skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cumin, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes.

  4. 4

    Combining Ingredients

Once the beans are cooked, drain any excess water and add the beans to the skillet with the sautéed onion and garlic. Stir in the salt and black pepper. Cook together for another 5-10 minutes to combine flavors.

  5. 5

    Serving

Serve hot, topped with optional ingredients like sour cream, cheese, or cilantro if desired.
