Method
Preparation
- 1
Make the Custard Mixture
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and sugar until well combined and frothy.
- 2
Prepare the Bread
Take the thick slices of bread and set them aside. If the bread is not stale, you may want to let it sit out for a little while to dry out slightly.
Cooking
- 3
Soak the Bread
Dip each slice of bread into the custard mixture, ensuring both sides are well-coated. Allow excess custard to drip off.
- 4
Heat the Pan
In a large skillet or frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat until it starts to foam but not brown.
- 5
Cook the Toast
Place the soaked bread slices into the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Serving
- 6
Serve the French Toast
Once cooked, transfer the French toast slices to a plate. Drizzle with maple syrup and serve warm.
