Flatbread Base

Method

Flatbread Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, mix warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Make Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Assemble Flatbread

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).

  2. 6

    Shape Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle or circle on a floured surface.

  3. 7

    Add Toppings

Spread sun-dried tomato pesto evenly over the dough. Tear mozzarella and burrata into pieces and distribute them over the pesto. Layer prosciutto on top.

  4. 8

    Bake Flatbread

Transfer the flatbread to a baking sheet or pizza stone and bake for about 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden and the cheese is bubbling.

  5. 9

    Finish with Greens

Once baked, remove from the oven, and top with fresh arugula and thinly sliced red onion.

  6. 10

    Serve

Slice the flatbread and serve warm.
