Main Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- 1
Caramelize Onions
In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Slice 1 large onion thinly and add to the skillet. Stir occasionally for about 20-25 minutes until the onions are golden brown and caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.
- 2
Prepare Sausage
In the same skillet, add the Italian sausage. Cook over medium heat, breaking it up into small pieces, until browned and fully cooked (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat and set aside.
- 3
Roast Red Peppers
If using fresh red peppers, roast them over an open flame or in the oven until the skin is charred. Allow to cool, then peel, seed, and slice into strips. If using jarred roasted red peppers, simply drain and slice.
- 4
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
Assembly and Baking
- 5
Assemble the Pizza
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness. Transfer the dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the base, leaving a small border around the edges.
- 6
Add Toppings
Evenly distribute the cooked Italian sausage, pepperoni slices, caramelized onions, and roasted red peppers over the tomato sauce. Finally, sprinkle the mozzarella cheese generously on top.
- 7
Bake
Place the assembled pizza in the preheated oven. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 8
Slice and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice into wedges and serve hot.
