Method
French Toast Preparation
- 1
Make the French Toast Batter
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
- 2
Dip the Bread
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt the butter. Dip each slice of bread in the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.
- 3
Cook the French Toast
Place the soaked bread slices on the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Remove from heat and keep warm.
Apple Pecan Caramel Sauce Preparation
- 4
Prepare the Caramel Sauce
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the brown sugar and butter together, stirring until smooth.
- 5
Add Cream and Apples
Slowly add the heavy cream to the saucepan, stirring continuously. Add the diced apples and ground cinnamon, and let the mixture simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
- 6
Incorporate Pecans
Stir in the chopped pecans and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
Whipped Cream Preparation
- 7
Whip the Cream
In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, whip until soft peaks form.
Assembly
- 8
Serve the French Toast
On a serving plate, stack the cooked French toast slices and generously drizzle the apple pecan caramel sauce over the top.
- 9
Add Whipped Cream
Top with a dollop of freshly whipped cream and sprinkle with additional ground cinnamon if desired.
