Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Oven and Cake Pan
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) or in the microwave, stirring until smooth. Allow to cool slightly.
- 3
Mix Wet Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until well combined. Add the vanilla extract and the melted chocolate mixture, stirring until fully incorporated.
- 4
Combine Dry Ingredients
Sift together the cocoa powder and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- 5
Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- 6
Toast the Marshmallows
Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and set aside to cool. Preheat the broiler. Spread the mini marshmallows evenly over the top of the cake and broil for 1-2 minutes until the marshmallows are golden and toasted.
- 7
Add Peanuts and Serve
Remove the cake from the oven, sprinkle the spiced salted peanuts on top, and let it cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
