Ingredients for Dutch Apple Pie
Method
Directions for Dutch Apple Pie
- 1
Prepare the Pie Crust
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Roll out the pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie pan. Trim and crimp the edges as desired.
- 2
Prepare the Apple Filling
Peel, core, and slice the apples. In a large bowl, combine the apple slices, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour. Mix until the apples are well coated.
- 3
Assemble the Pie
Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie crust, spreading it evenly.
- 4
Make the Toffee Crumble
In a medium bowl, mix together the softened butter, rolled oats, brown sugar, and toffee bits until crumbly. Sprinkle this mixture over the apples in the pie.
- 5
Bake the Pie
Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown. If the edges of the crust brown too quickly, cover them with foil.
- 6
Serve
Let the pie cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with caramel sauce and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
