Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Build & Shake

Add 2 oz aged rum (or bourbon), 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz Italian amaro, 0.5 oz ginger liqueur (or ginger syrup), 0.25 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Seal and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.

2

Prepare Glass

Fill a rocks glass or Collins-style glass with crushed or cracked ice (about 1 cup). If using a Collins glass, leave room for a short top-up with crushed ice.

3

Strain & Finish

Double-strain the shaken cocktail over the prepared ice to remove tiny ice shards and any pulp. If you prefer slightly more effervescence, you can top with a splash (0.25–0.5 oz) of chilled soda water — optional.

Garnish & Serve

4

Express the oils of the fresh ginger slice (or a lime peel) over the drink by holding it over the glass and giving it a quick twist, then drop the ginger slice and a lime wheel/wedge into the glass as garnish.

5

Serve immediately with a short stirring spoon or straw. Recommend sipping slowly to enjoy the interplay of bright lime, warm ginger, and bittersweet Italian amaro — the flavor profile that gives the 'Italian Stallion' its name.
