Preparation
Chill glass
Place a large wine glass or stemmed glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare ingredients to ensure the cocktail stays cold.
If making simple syrup: combine equal parts sugar and water in a small saucepan, heat gently until sugar dissolves, cool to room temperature, and chill. (Use 0.25 fl oz per cocktail.)
Build the Cocktail
Pour 2 fl oz Aperol into the glass over the ice.
Add 0.5 fl oz fresh lemon juice and 0.25 fl oz simple syrup to balance sweetness and brightness.
Slowly pour 3 fl oz chilled Prosecco into the glass. Pour gently to keep the bubbles and avoid mixing too aggressively.
Top with 1 fl oz chilled soda water to add lift and make the drink more refreshing.
Give the drink one gentle stir (3–4 slow rotations) to integrate Aperol, citrus, and Prosecco without flattening the bubbles.
Garnish & Serve
Optional: slap a fresh basil leaf between your palms to release aroma and rest it on top of the drink for a bright herbal note.
Serve immediately with a short straw or without. Consume while sparkling and cold.
