Method
Cocktail
Combine ingredients
In a mixing glass or a cocktail shaker without the top, add 1 oz bourbon (or rye), 1 oz Campari, and 1 oz sweet vermouth.
Strain
Discard the ice/water from your chilled serving glass if you chilled it. Using a julep or Hawthorne strainer, strain the chilled cocktail into the Old Fashioned glass over one large ice cube (for on-the-rocks) or into the chilled coupe (for up) without ice.
Garnish and finish
Express the oils of an orange peel by holding it skin-side down above the drink and giving it a firm twist to spray oils across the surface. Rim the glass with the peel, then drop it into the drink as garnish.
Serve
Serve immediately. Cocktail yields one generous serving.
