Method

For the Mozzarella Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients needed for the mozzarella sticks.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate shallow bowls, place the flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, oregano, salt, and black pepper in the third.

  3. 3

    Bread the Cheese Sticks

Take each mozzarella stick and coat it first in the flour, then dip it in the beaten eggs, and finally roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated. Repeat for all cheese sticks.

  4. 4

    Freeze the Cheese Sticks

Lay the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape while frying.

  5. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  6. 6

    Fry the Cheese Sticks

Fry the frozen mozzarella sticks in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

For the Marinara Sauce

  1. 7

    Prepare the Sauce

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Add the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the saucepan. Stir to combine.

  3. 9

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

  4. 10

    Serve

Remove the sauce from heat and serve it warm alongside the crispy mozzarella sticks.
