Method

Cheese Sticks Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mozzarella

Cut the mozzarella cheese into sticks, about 1/2 inch wide and 3 inches long.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mixture of breadcrumbs, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.

  3. 3

    Bread the Cheese

Coat each mozzarella stick in flour, dip it into the egg, and then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated.

  4. 4

    Freeze the Cheese Sticks

Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Cook the Marinara

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in crushed tomatoes, basil, salt, pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 7

    Blend (Optional)

For a smoother sauce, blend with an immersion blender until desired consistency is reached.

Frying the Cheese Sticks

  1. 8

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 9

    Fry the Cheese Sticks

Carefully add frozen mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.

  3. 10

    Drain and Serve

Remove the cheese sticks from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with marinara sauce.
