    In a skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they are soft and lightly caramelized, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.

    Mix the Batter

    In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Gradually stir in the buttermilk until a smooth batter forms.

    Combine Ingredients

    Fold the sautéed onions into the batter until evenly coated.

    Shape and Fry

    Using a spoon, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, forming small loaves. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

    Allow the loaf to cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
