Method

Filling Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Blueberry Filling

In a large mixing bowl, combine the fresh wild Maine blueberries, granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, lemon juice, and ground cinnamon. Gently toss the mixture until the blueberries are coated evenly. Set aside to let the flavors meld for about 10 minutes.

Crisp Topping Preparation

  1. 2

    Make the Crisp Topping

In another mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, old-fashioned rolled oats, brown sugar, unsalted butter (melted), and salt. Use a fork or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 3

    Assemble and Bake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Spread the blueberry mixture evenly in the bottom of the dish. Sprinkle the crisp topping generously over the blueberries. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the blueberries are bubbly.

Serving Suggestion

  1. 4

    Serve with Ice Cream

Remove the blueberry crisp from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Serve warm in bowls with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top.
