Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Steak
Remove the ribeye steaks from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps in cooking them evenly.
- 2
Season the Steak
Generously season both sides of the steaks with salt and black pepper. Press the seasoning into the meat for better adherence.
Cooking
- 3
Heat the Pan
In a large skillet or grill pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers but does not smoke.
- 4
Cook the Steak
Add the ribeye steaks to the hot pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them, until a nice crust forms.
- 5
Flip the Steak
Flip the steaks using tongs and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, or adjust the time according to your desired doneness.
- 6
Optional - Add Flavor
During the last minute of cooking, add the butter, garlic cloves, and rosemary to the pan. Spoon the melted butter over the steaks for added flavor.
Resting and Serving
- 7
Rest the Steak
Remove the steaks from the pan and place them on a cutting board. Let them rest for about 5 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.
