1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or chilled martini glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure the drink stays cold longer.

2

Measure and combine

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Absolut vodka, 0.5 oz Cointreau (or triple sec), 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 1 oz cranberry juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup if you prefer a slightly sweeter Cosmo.

3

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with cubed ice (about 6 standard ice cubes). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels very cold and the shaker develops condensation. This both chills and dilutes the drink to the proper balance.

4

Strain and serve

Discard ice or water from the chilled glass if you used ice water. Double-strain the cocktail through a Hawthorne strainer (and fine mesh strainer if available) into the chilled coupe or martini glass to remove ice shards and any pulp from the lime.

5

Garnish

Express the oils of an orange twist over the surface of the drink by holding the twist skin-side down and giving it a quick squeeze above the drink, then rub the rim with the twist and drop it into the cocktail. Alternatively, garnish with a lime wheel on the rim.

6

Serve

Serve immediately while very cold. Enjoy responsibly.
