Cocktail Base

Method

Cocktail Base

  1. 1

    Build the drink

Fill a highball or Collins glass with ice about three-quarters full. Pour 1.5 oz vodka over the ice.

  2. 2

Add 0.5 oz black cherry syrup and 0.5 oz fresh lime juice directly into the glass.

  3. 3

Gently pour 4.5 oz black cherry flavored seltzer (or the RTD) over the back of a spoon into the glass to preserve effervescence and create a light layered effect.

Mixing & Finish

  1. 4

    Combine

Using a long bar spoon, gently stir the cocktail 2–3 times to integrate the syrup and lime juice with the vodka and seltzer without flattening the bubbles.

  2. 5

Taste and adjust: If you prefer it sweeter, add another 0.25 oz black cherry syrup. If brighter, add 0.25 oz more lime juice. Stir gently again after adjustments.

Garnish

  1. 6

Skewer 1–2 fresh black cherries or maraschino cherries on a cocktail pick and place across the rim or into the drink.

  2. 7

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Optionally, express a lime peel over the top to release oils for added aroma.

  3. 8

Serve immediately while cold and fizzy.
