Method
Cocktail

Mix ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz light rum, 3 oz fresh orange juice, 1 oz pineapple juice, 0.5 oz Cointreau (or triple sec), 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 1 dash Angostura bitters. Add a small handful of ice (or enough to reach 3/4 of the shaker).
- 3
Shake
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and well-chilled (this dilutes and blends the juices).
- 4
Strain and layer grenadine
Discard the ice from the chilled glass if you used it to chill. Fill the glass with fresh crushed ice or cubes. Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass. Slowly pour 0.5 oz grenadine down the inside edge of the glass; it will sink and create a sunrise gradient (the 'sun' at the bottom).
- 5
Finish
Give the drink a gentle stir for 1–2 seconds if you prefer slight integration of the grenadine; leave mostly layered for the visual effect. Add 1 dash more bitters on top if you like a hint of spice.
Garnish & Serve
- 6
Garnish the rim with an orange wheel and drop a maraschino cherry into the glass. Add a mint sprig alongside the orange wheel for aroma if desired.
