Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Fill a highball glass (or Collins) with fresh ice to chill while you measure the ingredients.

  2. 2

    Mix base spirits

In a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice, combine 1.5 oz vodka, 0.75 oz amaretto, 1 oz sour mix, and 0.5 oz fresh lime juice. Cap the shaker.

  3. 3

    Shake

Shake vigorously for about 10–12 seconds until the exterior of the shaker is frosty and the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.

  4. 4

    Assemble

Discard the excess ice from the glass if you used chilling ice. Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass over fresh ice.

  5. 5

    Top with soda

Top the drink with 2 oz (about a splash) of Sprite or lemon-lime soda. Gently stir once or twice to integrate the soda without losing too much carbonation.

  6. 6

    Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve with a straw if desired and a small cocktail napkin.

  7. 7

    Notes

Adjust the sour mix and lime to taste — add a little more sour mix for tartness or a touch more amaretto for sweetness. Use pre-made sour mix or homemade (equal parts fresh lemon and lime juice, simple syrup to taste) as preferred.
