Fried Catfish Ingredients

Method

Fried Catfish Directions

  1. 1

    Marinate the Catfish

Place the catfish fillets in a bowl and pour the buttermilk over them. Let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading

In a shallow dish, mix together the cornmeal, flour, cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Bread the Catfish

Remove the catfish from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each fillet in the cornmeal mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.

  5. 5

    Fry the Catfish

Carefully place the breaded catfish fillets in the hot oil, cooking in batches if necessary. Fry for 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried catfish from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve with fresh lettuce and Cajun aioli.
