Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Caramelized Onions

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are golden and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Italian Sausage

In the same pan, add the diced Italian sausage and cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat and set aside.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Stromboli

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle. Layer the pepperoni, cooked Italian sausage, caramelized onions, and shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough.

  4. 4

    Add Pancetta

Sprinkle the diced pancetta on top of the cheese layer.

  5. 5

    Roll and Seal

Starting from one end, roll the dough tightly to form a log. Pinch the seams to seal. Place the rolled Stromboli seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  6. 6

    Bake

Brush the top of the Stromboli with the remaining olive oil and sprinkle with black pepper. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Serve

Let the Stromboli cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.
