Pizza Dough and Toppings
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, mix warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add olive oil, salt, and flour gradually, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for about 10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 2
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
- 3
Shape the Pizza
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer it to a pizza peel or baking sheet if not using a stone.
- 4
Add the Sauce and Cheese
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the base. Dollop ricotta cheese across the pizza, then sprinkle with mozzarella, Fontina, and Parmesan cheeses.
- 5
Bake the Pizza
Slide the pizza onto the preheated stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 6
Finish and Serve
Remove from oven and sprinkle with fresh basil and crushed red pepper flakes if desired. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve hot.
