Fried Oysters Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare Oysters

Rinse the shucked oysters under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Soak in Buttermilk

Place the oysters in a bowl and cover them with buttermilk. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Coat the Oysters

Remove the oysters from the buttermilk, allowing the excess to drip off. Dredge each oyster in the flour mixture until well coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the Oysters

Carefully place the coated oysters in the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried oysters from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with lemon wedges.
