1. Prepare the Dipping Sauce
In a bowl, mix together the crushed tomatoes, capers, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Stir until combined and set aside.
2. Prepare the Calamari
In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.
3. Coat the Calamari
Add the cleaned calamari rings to the flour mixture. Toss until the calamari are well coated.
4. Fry the Calamari
In a deep pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated calamari in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
5. Serve
Serve the fried calamari hot with the tomato-caper dipping sauce on the side.
