Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Gelato Base

In a medium saucepan, combine whole milk, heavy cream, and granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved. Do not bring to a boil.

  2. 2

    Add Flavors

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in vanilla extract, amaretto liqueur, and a pinch of salt. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.

  3. 3

    Chill the Mixture

Once cooled, cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until well chilled.

  4. 4

    Churn the Gelato

Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

  5. 5

    Incorporate Cherries

During the last few minutes of churning, add the chopped cherries to the gelato.

  6. 6

    Freeze

Transfer the gelato to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.

  7. 7

    Serve

Scoop the gelato into bowls and enjoy your homemade Amaretto Cherry Gelato!
