Fahr Pils Recipe
Fahr Pils is the 2020 World Beer Awards Canada Gold Winner for Best Classic Pilsner-Style Lager Beer! Fuller bodied with less hop and bitterness, this beer is filtered for clarity and has a crisp finish. The Pils maintains flavours of crackers, floral notes, and a slight lingering bitterness to cut through the initial sweetness of the malt used.

Brewing Instructions
- 1
Mashing
In a large mash tun, heat 20 liters of water to 68°C (154°F). Add the Pilsner malt and hold the temperature for 60 minutes to allow the sugars to extract.
- 2
Sparging
After mashing, sparge the grains with hot water to collect about 25 liters of wort in the kettle.
- 3
Boiling
Bring the wort to a boil and add 50g of Saaz hops. Boil for 60 minutes, adding 30g of Hallertau hops in the last 10 minutes of the boil.
- 4
Cooling
After boiling, quickly cool the wort to about 20°C (68°F) using a wort chiller.
- 5
Fermentation
Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Pitch the yeast and seal with an airlock. Allow to ferment at around 12-15°C (54-59°F) for about 2 weeks.
- 6
Conditioning
After fermentation, add 100g of priming sugar to the beer for carbonation. Bottle the beer and let it condition for an additional 2 weeks at room temperature.
- 7
Enjoy
Chill the bottles and enjoy your homemade Fahr Pils!
