Method
Prepare the Salad Base
- 1
Wash and Chop Lettuce
Rinse the romaine lettuce under cold water to remove any dirt or grit. Pat dry with a paper towel. Remove the tough stems and chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces.
Make the Caesar Dressing
- 2
Blend Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, minced garlic (minced using a garlic press), lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well until smooth and creamy.
- 3
Season the Dressing
Add salt and black pepper to taste, adjusting as necessary. Mix again to ensure seasoning is evenly distributed.
Prepare the Croutons
- 4
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 5
Cube Bread
Cut the bread slices into cubes of about 1 inch.
- 6
Toss with Olive Oil
In a mixing bowl, toss the bread cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, and salt until evenly coated.
- 7
Bake the Croutons
Spread the seasoned bread cubes on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for about 10-15 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, turning halfway through to ensure even cooking.
Assemble the Salad
- 8
Combine Ingredients
In a large salad bowl, add the chopped romaine lettuce, drizzle with the prepared Caesar dressing, and toss to combine until the lettuce is well-coated.
- 9
Add Croutons and Cheese
Top the salad with the prepared croutons and additional grated Parmesan cheese.
- 10
Serve
Serve immediately as a side dish or a light meal.
