Base Ingredients

Method

Prepare the Coffee Mixture

  1. 1

    Brew the Coffee

Brew 1 cup of espresso or strong coffee. Allow it to cool slightly before using.

  2. 2

    Add Liqueur (Optional)

If using, stir in the coffee liqueur into the brewed coffee. Set aside.

Make the Cream Filling

  1. 3

    Whisk Egg Yolks

In a bowl, whisk together the 3 egg yolks with 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and thick.

  2. 4

    Add Mascarpone

Gently fold in 1 cup of mascarpone cheese until well combined and smooth.

  3. 5

    Whip the Cream

In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

  4. 6

    Combine Mixtures

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated. Be careful not to deflate the whipped cream.

Assemble the Tiramisu

  1. 7

    Dip Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger cookie into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 8

    Layer Ingredients

In a 9x9 inch dish, create a layer of the soaked ladyfingers at the bottom, followed by half of the cream filling. Repeat this process with another layer of ladyfingers and the remaining cream filling on top.

Chill and Serve

  1. 9

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to set.

  2. 10

    Add Topping

Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings if desired.

  3. 11

    Serve

Slice and serve chilled. Enjoy your delicious homemade tiramisu!
