Cooking Pasta
- 1
Boil Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.
- 2
Cook Spaghetti
Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.
- 3
Drain and Set Aside
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.
Making Meat Sauce
- 4
Sauté Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
- 5
Add Garlic
Mince the garlic cloves and add them to the skillet, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
- 6
Brown the Ground Beef
Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
- 7
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 8
Simmer the Sauce
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
Combining
- 9
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the meat sauce. Toss gently to combine.
- 10
Serve
Serve the spaghetti bolognese hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
