Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and butter. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) and stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Mix in Sugar and Eggs

Once the chocolate mixture has cooled, stir in the sugar until well combined. Then, add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Incorporate the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

  3. 3

    Prepare Baking Pan

Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper for easy removal.

  4. 4

    Pour Batter and Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes, or until the edges are set, and the center is slightly soft.

  5. 5

    Cool the Cake

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, invert it onto a serving plate and remove the parchment paper. Allow it to cool completely.

Toppings Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare Strawberries

Wash the fresh strawberries and remove the stems. Cut them in half if they are large. Arrange them on a plate.

  2. 7

    Whip Cream

In a mixing bowl, add the heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip the cream until soft peaks form.

  3. 8

    Serve

Slice the cooled flourless chocolate cake and serve with a dollop of whipped cream and a few strawberries on top. Enjoy!
