Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix well until combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Then carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cakes

Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, remove them from the pans and place them on wire racks to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 7

    Make the Frosting

In a mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the unsweetened cocoa powder and confectioners' sugar, alternating with whole milk until the desired consistency is reached. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  2. 8

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous amount of frosting over the top. Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.

  3. 9

    Serve

Slice the cake into pieces and serve. Enjoy your rich chocolate cake!
