Method

For the Spicy Pickles

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the sliced pickles on a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, cayenne pepper, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Add Wet Ingredients

Add the beaten egg and milk to the dry ingredients and mix until you have a smooth batter.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Batter the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice into the batter, making sure it is well coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully place the battered pickles into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Drain and Cool

Remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

For the Spicy Ranch Dipping Sauce

  1. 8

    Mix the Sauce

In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, ranch seasoning mix, hot sauce, and lemon juice.

  2. 9

    Stir Well

Stir the mixture until all ingredients are well blended and smooth.

  3. 10

    Chill the Sauce

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
