Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Mix dry ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt until well combined.

Combining Ingredients

  1. 3

    Combine wet ingredients

In another bowl, beat the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract together until smooth.

  2. 4

    Combine wet and dry

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  3. 5

    Add flavor enhancers

Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) into the batter gently.

Baking

  1. 6

    Bake the mixture

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  2. 7

    Cool down

Remove from oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve and garnish

Cut into squares and serve warm or at room temperature. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar, top with fresh berries, and add a dollop of whipped cream.
